Welcome to Tanzania Gemmological Centre (TGC), a unique academic centre in the sub-Saharan region for its strong training programmes for middle cadre professionals in the minerals value addition industry. We are dedicated to fostering excellence in the gem and jewellery industry. The centre is registered and accredited by the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) to offer Competence Based Education and Training in varied fields of minerals value addition.
Apart from the training, the Centre offer services in gemmological research and development; gemstones identification; gemstones treatment; and gem and jewellery Laboratory from which gemstone certificates of authenticity are issued. Our vision is to be the Centre of Excellence in training, developing, promoting, and supporting the gem and jewellery industry in Tanzania.
The centre has qualified and highly experienced personnel who offer training and research works in minerals value addition. Tanzania Gemmological Centre has been in operation since 2003 owned by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and operates under the Ministry of Minerals. The centre offers certificate and diploma (NVA Level I, II & III and NTA Level 4, 5 & 6) programmes in Gem & Jewellery Technology.

Tanzania Gemmological Centre (TGC) is a training Centre on minerals value addition, owned by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and operates under the Ministry of Minerals. The operation at TGC commenced in 2003 with an objective of offering in-house training on gem and rock carving and ultimately enhances value addition skills of practitioners in the gem and jewellery industry.
The Centre was formerly known as Arusha Gemstone Carving Centre (AGCC) until the year 2009 when it was changed to TGC.
